A federal judge in the United States has denied the Department of Justice's request to prevent California from counting mail-in ballots from more than 20,000 voters. The DOJ claimed some of these voters might not be U.S. citizens.

The judge expressed concern that blocking the ballots would cause significant disruption to the democratic process and create confusion among voters and officials.

As a result, California is allowed to continue counting the mail ballots as planned, ensuring that the election process moves forward without interruption.
