Appeals Court Upholds Block on Federal Voter ID Tool

A federal appeals court has refused to allow the Department of Homeland Security to regain access to a voter identification tool that uses Social Security information.

This tool was created to help verify voter eligibility but faced legal challenges over privacy concerns.

The court's decision keeps restrictions in place on the federal government's use of sensitive personal data during elections.

As a result, the Department of Homeland Security cannot currently use this tool to screen voters.
